About Helgtandvården

Helgtandvården (meaning the weekend dental care) is a dental clinic in Stockholm, focusing on aesthetic dental care for an affordable price. 

Project Description

We managed the entire development of the website on behalf of the company, with the only exception being the web design which was developed by an external web designer.

Project Summary

• The frontend was developed with NextJS to optimise for dynamic routings (the multiple services that is offered by the clinic) and for speed. 
• We utilised plugins for booking, using a well-known booking service for dental clinics in Sweden called "Muntra".
• The backend was developed with Laravel, a PHP framework, for REST API routing, faster and more secure access to the MySQL database where we store reviews and contact details to patients who has filled the contact box.
• We also integrated SMTP/Email functionality to the backend in order to send confirmation emails to clients when needed.
• Google Maps API was added to display the location of the clinic.
• A python script was developed to scrape reviews at the time of development to gather all reviews the clinic had across multiple sources.
• The website is being hosted through a webhosting service. Thus, NodeJS backend was not supported, and was the reason behind Laravel as the choice of backend, since the webhosting does support PHP.
